We begin at the Hamilton Bike Share hub located at McMaster University on Main Street West in Hamilton Ontario.
We then follow the dedicated bike lane, cross Main Street, go down Emerson Street and turn right onto the paved rail trail.
The trail will cross leland street. Upon arriving at a parking lot, we'll make an abrupt right turn to continue onto the paved trail until we eventually pass the candy factory and arrive at Ewen Rd.
We'll make a very brief stop at Crunch Fitness to pick up whoever wants to join us. A Hamilton Bike Share hub is located next to the plaza driveway on Main Street.
From this point we return to the trail and continue while making brief stops at University Plaza, Trail centre (Dundas train station), and the Summit Bog.
Get ready to fill your drink bottles up with water at the Trail Centre!
Eventually we will pass by a golf course and when we approach Jerseyville we may see a bunch of cows from a distance.
If you see a farmer, thank them for bringing you fresh goods, especially milk, because milk comes from cows!
Jerseyville park will be our major stop. It's our halfway point to our destination.
Later on the trail we will pass by a farm, a chance of free bottles of water, and a large privately-owned duck pond visible to rail trail users.
You may notice highway 403 on the far-left as you travel the 2nd half of the trail but it won't make noise until we pass the duck pond and travel a few more kilometers.
We go under the highway bridge, over papple bridge, and under the cainsville bridge and train bridge (see video) and ultimately arrive at Locks St. and Mohawk lake
Upon arrival to Greenwich street, we turn right and follow that road out to Cayuga Road (where a bunch of streets join together). We will be travelling on the paved road for the entire length of Mohawk Lake. (about 2km).
We go down Cayuga Road to Erie Ave, turn right, and go straight out to our ultimate destination, Earl Haig Waterpark
Please note this place is only open during the summer months, and when it is open, it's the place to go for low-priced burgers. Last year, their cheeseburger price was $3.50 each!
Our return route will be pretty much the reverse of our outbound route.
